The Zeraphath Institute for Dignified Livelihood

Empowering communities to embrace dignified livelihood and fulfilled living on earth, through prison ministry, food security, and mental health programs.

Welcome to Zeraphath Institute for Dignified Livelihood (ZIDIL)

ZIDIL is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to cultivating dignity, healing, and sustainable transformation within communities. Guided by compassion, justice, and a deep spiritual foundation, we empower individuals to embrace a fulfilled life—mentally, physically, and spiritually. Our mission is simple: to see lives restored, communities reconciled, and hope renewed.

What We Do

To empower communities to embrace dignified livelihood and fulfilled living on earth.

Prison Ministration

We support incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals with spiritual guidance, mentorship, and reintegration support rooted in Christ’s love.

Food Security

We promote sustainable farming and nutrition education to help families grow food, build resilience, and thrive in faith-centered communities.

Mental Health Support

We offer counseling, awareness programs, and recovery support to foster healing, reduce stigma, and strengthen emotional well-being.

“I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Prison ministry is one of ZIDIL’s core programs. Incarcerated individuals—regardless of gender—deserve emotional and psychological support. During a recent visit to the prison, we had the joy of sharing a special New Year’s meal with the inmates. It was a sacred moment of connection and care, and in offering that meal, we truly felt we were serving God Himself (Matthew 25:36). We also shared Scripture, reminding each person that God sees them, loves them, and continues to care deeply for them.

How does ZIDIL fight Gender Based Violence in society?

A high volume of gender based violence perpetrators are drug & substance users.

According to UNESCO – Mrs Louise Haxthausein – Regional Director of UNESCO office E.Africa:

  • 40% of women in Kenya have experienced emotional, physical, or psychological intimate partner violence.
  • 30% of women and 19% of men believe a husband is justified in beating his wife under certain circumstances.

Zidil aims to help solve gendered violence at the heart — in the hearts of drug & substance users in prison and in their communities.

Prison Ministration

Restoring Hope Behind Bars

We believe that no life is beyond redemption. Through our prison ministration program, we reach out to incarcerated individuals with compassion, spiritual guidance, and practical support. We conduct regular visits, provide faith-based counseling, and facilitate programs that encourage transformation, reconciliation, and reintegration into society.

Our mission is to restore dignity, offer hope, and build bridges between inmates and their communities. We reach out to ex-convicts with effort to instill hope and recovery and reduces recidivism.

Food Security

Cultivating Resilience, One Meal at a Time

Food is more than nourishment—it’s a right. Our food security initiative works with vulnerable communities to promote sustainable farming practices, improve access to nutritious food, and empower households through training and resource support. From seed to harvest, we walk alongside families and farmers to ensure no one goes to bed hungry, while also building long-term resilience to climate and economic challenges.

We encourage horticulture farming, livestock and general Agricultural development in faith-based family settings. We enforce scriptural teaching in addressing God’s intention for men to embrace abundant living (John 10.10)

Mental Health

Healing Minds, Transforming Lives

Mental wellness is foundational to thriving communities. Our mental health program provides safe spaces for individuals to seek support in addressing emotional and psychological challenges, speak freely, and receive care without stigma. We offer community-based counseling, awareness campaigns, and training for caregivers and leaders, helping to break the silence around mental health.

Together, we are building a culture of empathy, understanding, and healing. Through twelve steps alcoholic anonymous / Al – Anon model, we strive to reduce and manage addiction problem among the youth in the community.

Help us see lives restored, communities reconciled, and hope renewed.
